If you would interview a group of people who've successfully lost weight and got fit, you would see they all have these six things in common:
Contents
They Eat For Health
If you talk to any fit people about how they successfully got that way, you’ll find they listen to their body as far as knowing what to eat. Over time, they have figured out what makes them feel good, what keeps them full between meals and what kinds of food gives them the energy they need to make it through tough workouts. They eat a clean healthy diet of nutrient-rich, real foods.
One thing you’ll find they do not talk about is the latest diet fad - at least not seriously. Why? Because they already know what works for them and why take a chance on changing to something untried – at least untried on their body.
They Workout
If you’re a person who absolutely dreads exercising, then you will probably never be fit. Working out and eating right are two absolutely essential components to getting and staying fit. They are a pair. Without one or the other, you will not see any changes in your body.
Now, working out doesn't necessarily mean hours at the gym or at home. There are so many fitness options and forms of exercising that you should be able to easily find something that sounds appealing. We dedicated a whole article to making fitness fun.
They Stay Active
Very fit people are always finding ways to stay active. While they schedule exercise into their daily routine, they also incorporate activities that burn calories and use muscles each and every day. They opt to walk when possible and take the stairs instead of the elevator.
They may choose to bike to work and pick fun and active hobbies for their downtime such as surfing, hiking or golfing.
They Guard Their Healthy Lifestyle
Fit people put healthy eating and exercising ahead of all else. That may mean getting up 30 minutes earlier to get in a HIIT workout before going to work. It means eating the healthy lunch you brought from home while your colleagues eat cafeteria food.
They don't let a sedentary lifestyle or junk food tempt them. They keep a positive mindset to make sure they reach their goals.
They Allow Time for Recovery
Schedule rest days are a must. Very fit people allow specified times for their body to recoup and recover. One day a week you should take off from intense work outs and let your muscles rest.
It's also essential you allow your self to get enough sleep every night. Sleep is one of the most underrated parts of fitness. Getting enough sleep is paramount to getting extremely fit. While you sleep your body is able to repair itself. Getting at least 7-8 hours of sleep each night, you’ll be healthier, happier and more fit.
They Associate With People Like Themselves
You won’t see extremely fit people chumming around with friends that are constantly getting fast food, eating donuts and sitting on their couch watching TV. Surrounding yourself with people who know and understand the importance of healthy eating and an active lifestyle will make all the difference. Running in a crowd with a like mindset will make you naturally stick to your guns and keep you motivated.
Try to find people who get excited about healthy cooking or going on organized bike rides. Having people to train for a fun run with is a whole lot more fun than training solo.
Practice these six things and you too can start down the road to being an extremely fit person.
